The EAZA Foundation urged to continue to support the Ukrainian Zoos

Ukrainian Zoos need even more help due to the approach of winter and the lack of prospects for a quick end to the war. The European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA) announced this on its Facebook page.

“Fortunately, during the recent strikes by Russian missiles and UAVs, zoos, their staff, animals and infrastructure were not harmed. But the situation is critical. Zoos of Ukraine are facing shortages of electricity, water, fuel and other important materials. Logistics are complicated. Zoo animals and staff are under constant stress,” the EAZA website says.

It is reported that EAZA has already collected 1.628 million euros for Ukrainian zoos. This was made possible thanks to the generous support of 153 institutions and 11,244 private donors! Such support allowed the Association to transfer significant sums to Ukrainian colleagues to cover the needs of generators, fuel, firewood, heaters, fodder and veterinary drugs.

Also on the page is a video with words of gratitude from Sergey Kostiv, director of the Limpopo Zoo.

Earlier it was reported that the Cherkasy Zoo Roshen was replenished with new residents.
