Unfortunately, the war did not bypass any zoo of Ukraine, as well as the Limpopo Zoo.
Despite all the problems around the Limpopo Zoo accepted 4 people for temporary residence from the Kharkiv Zoo. Anna Husar also became a guest of the zoo. She came with the animals from the Kyiv “ХІІ Months Park”: two orangutans, gibbons and three monkeys
Limpopo Zoo could not stand by people who were forced to leave their homes, that is why it started free visits for people from the temporarily occupied territories. More than 10,000 internally displaced persons were happy to get to know the zoo of our region. The zoo has received countless positive reviews.
From the month of May until today, the Limpopo Zoo has been working with several military hospitals and receiving our soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for rehabilitation after treatment.
Particularly difficult times befell the Limpopo Zoo between March and May, as all supplies were running out, and considering the number of visitors and the situation in the country in general, it was not known what to do next. All zoos live seasonally, and considering the fact that the money earned from the previous season was only enough for the winter, it was a bit scary to start the season in the spring without visitors.
We are glad that since June, the situation has somewhat improved, and we were able to provide our animals with decent food and care. Now we are anxiously preparing for wintering this year.

In this difficult time, our zoo does not receive funds from visits that could cover all expenses. Territorially, we are outside the hostilities, but as a result of the war, we have faced many problems.
We accepted evacuated animals from the 12 Months Zoo (orangutans, gibbons, hussar monkeys), the city of Kyiv (servals), the city of Buchi (cougar), as well as people from the 12 Months Zoo and the Kharkiv Zoo. For them, we specially equipped rooms for living (in particular, we delivered individual heating, a bathroom, a kitchen) on the territory of the zoo and modernized the enclosures (in connection with the increase in the number of animals).
A large number of refugees (internally displaced persons) from cities where hostilities are taking place have moved to our region. Our zoo made their entrance free, as not everyone is able to pay. More than 10,000 people were able to visit the zoo for free.
And there were many such different problems: price increase and shortage of diesel fuel, which entailed an increase in the price of products and delivery, the commuting of workers to work, those who were not afraid to stay, a decrease in working hours, a lack of visitors…
