Drezden Zoo closes terrarium due to high energy costs

The Dresden Zoo is unable to cover the ever-increasing electricity costs and is closing the terrarium from November 1. Previously, the closure was planned for the spring of next year.
“We had to make the decision to close it earlier. The costs of heating the old premises are huge. We cannot afford to operate this energy and money-guzzler until the planned date. After all, we all face very high costs,” the Zoo’s website notes. About 80 species of animals are currently kept in the terrarium.
Some of the reptiles will be kept by the zoo – they will be relocated to the newly built House of Orangutans.
Animals that cannot be kept will be transferred to other zoos and private individuals.
According to its website, Dresden Zoo is the fourth oldest zoo in Germany with a long, rich history and interesting traditions.
Earlier it was reported that the Cherkasy Zoo Roshen was replenished with new residents.
