Cherkasy Zoo Roshen has been replenished with new residents

Despite all the difficulties of wartime, Cherkasy Zoo Roshen works and develops. This year, offspring were obtained from orange-winged amazon. The event was the first case of breeding of this species in the Cherkasy Zoo.

Orange-winged amazon (Amazona amazonica) is a parrot from the tropical forests of South America.
In the department of mammals, five wonderful fluffy animals were born – small raccoons. The event was a confirmation that the team of Zoo  properly takes care of animals, creates proper living conditions for them and provides them with appropriate feed.
Maintaining good conditions for representatives of tropical fauna is becoming an increasingly difficult task. However, our warm-loving reptiles not only feel comfortable, but also produce offspring. In the Aquaterrarium  it was possible to obtain offspring from New Guinea snake-necked turtles (the Cherkasy Zoo Roshen received offspring from these reptiles for the first time in 2020). At that time, it was the first case of reproduction of snake-necked turtles in Ukraine.

The New Guinea snake-necked turtle (Chelodina novaeguineae) naturally lives on the island of New Guinea and in Australia.

Earlier it was reported that the second oldest gorilla in the world passed away at the Louisville Zoo.
